Christmas In New York – Shilelagh Law

If there was ever a more appropriate song for Christmas this year in NYC, it is this song by Yonkers own, Shilelagh Law. Christmas in New York, was written in the months following the 9/11 attacks. If you were in the city around that time or the years since, this song is a NY Christmas bar staple. I’ve always loved the song, from the moment I heard it in Bay Ridge. #Throwback Thursday – Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)

For over 20 years, The Late Show with David Letterman has had the best Christmas Tradition going. David invites Darlene Love to sing the greatest Christmas song of all time , Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Darlene still belts it out as if she were in the studio with Phil Spector back in the 60’s. This tradition most likely will come to an end to tomorrow night as David Letterman will step down sometime next year. I hope Colbert does the right thing and keeps this tradition going. (more…)


Top 25 Albums of 2014

Well this is it, the final list of 2014 for The Back Of The Crowd.  Lots of familiar names on this list, as you would expect.  If you haven’t heard of any of these bands, take the plunge and check them out….you won’t be disappointed.  2014 was a great year for new and old bands alike.  For the last week we have looked back at the great songs and artists of 2014, but we looking forward to next year and are enthusiastic about the future.  Here’s a nod to 2014 and upwards and onwards to 2015.  For Auld Lang Syne indeed!
